I’m here to explain everything you need to know about hummus: what it’s made of, what it’s used for and, most importantly, what it tastes like.

So, are you ready to give hummus a shot?

What is hummus?

Hummus is a dish originally from the Middle East. It is made primarily from chickpeas (also known as unleavened beans), but the flavor is enhanced by olive oil, sesame seeds, garlic, lemon juice and salt.

Used primarily as a spray or dip for chips, crackers, vegetables and other snacks. In fact, I like to eat spoonfuls of hummus by myself. It’s so good. But there are many ways to eat hummus.

Since hummus is made from chickpeas, it is 100% vegan. It also contains many nutrients and minerals such as vitamin B, iron, fiber and phosphorus.

Eating hummus has many health benefits. It has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the risk of heart disease, promotes weight loss and maintains blood sugar levels. What more do you want?

How does hummus taste?

If you’re not a fan of chickpeas, don’t worry because hummus has no other taste. If it is used as a base for the dish, the addition of other elements changes its taste.

Hummus is like a creamy paste dripping with rich umami flavor. The dip is melt-in-your-mouth and has a rich garlic flavor.

Although it doesn’t taste like anything else in the world, the texture is reminiscent of mayonnaise and other creamy spreads. But because it is made from chickpeas, it is much more nutritious and has fewer calories.

And you know what? Hummus is very versatile! If you tweak the recipe a bit, you can make different flavors to suit your own preference.

For example, give your hummus a spicy flavor by infusing chickpeas with red pepper. Or give it an autumnal flavor by adding sweet potatoes. You can also give it a greener touch by mixing in spinach and feta.

Of course, you can never go wrong with bacon, so add it to your hummus to give it a smoky touch. And finally, how about a sweet treat – chocolate and peanut butter hummus, anyone?

  3. Have fun!

What is hummus?

I still love cucumbers, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, celery and radishes, but any crunchy vegetable will do!

Crispy snacks

In addition to vegetables, crunchy snacks like tortillas, pretzels and crackers are great holders for a good dip.

Fruit and nuts

If you like the combination of sweet and salty, dip your apples and pears in hummus. The flavors and textures combine so well that every bite is like fireworks in your mouth!

If you have chocolate hummus in the house, why not dip fresh strawberries in it?

Or maybe nuts and hummus? Almonds and cashews are nutritious and delicious on their own, but when you dip them in hummus, their flavor only increases.

Hard-boiled eggs

Edible eggs are incredibly delicious, but they’re not always the healthiest option. If you can’t resist this sinful snack, but don’t want to consume too many calories, avoid mayonnaise. Use hummus instead and keep drooling without guilt.

Pasta sauce

Hummus is so thick and creamy that it can be used as a sauce for pasta. Mix hummus with your favorite pasta and make an easy, light dinner. It may be simple, but it’s a hearty, nutritious meal packed with flavor.

Avocados, also known as the fruit of the millennials, are incredibly creamy, nutty and flavorful. What makes them so great is that they are good for the body.

You know what else is good for the body? Hummus! So go ahead and upgrade your avocado appetizer by adding a dash of hummus. Yummy!
