But there are many incredible side dishes that make this delicious bowl an unforgettable meal. You can choose classics like corn bread and tortilla chips. Or replace them with soft pretzels and cheese fries.

These are my top chili side dishes for game nights, get-togethers, or just a cozy family dinner.

1. Corn bread

You can never go wrong with a classic! Go the traditional route and serve your chili with a slice of soft, sweet bread with butter. A classic comfort food the whole family can enjoy.

There are also several options you can try. Try maple butter to give your dishes a little sweetness. Or, if you want a smoky flavor, the Bacon Cornbread, a side dish your family will never forget.

2. Breadsticks

Cheese sticks are delicious on their own, but dip them in a cup of chili and you have an absolute treat for everyone.

3. Quesadilla

A great way to add even more Mexican flavor to your chili! Peppers, cheese, tortilla bread and chicken, it has everything. But you can omit the chicken if you’re already serving it with a chili meat. It’s up to you.

4. Nachos

Add crunchy chili and nachos. Just some melted cheese, salsa and you have the perfect finger food.

5. Tacos

You can even use your chili as a taco filling. Spicy, meaty chili in a soft, crunchy tortilla roll? Just thinking about it makes me hungry. It’s also a great way to get rid of leftovers.

6. Baked potatoes

It’s ideal if you have to feed a bunch of hungry kids. Hot baked potatoes with sour cream, melted cheese and bacon – even the pickiest eater can’t say no to these!

7. Cheesy potato skins

Combine your hearty bowl of chili with baked potato chips. Top with melted cheese, sour cream, bacon and green onions. It couldn’t be better.

8. Sweet potatoes

Add something sweet to your meal. Baked sweet potatoes are very easy to prepare. You can also add butter, salt, pepper, brown sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup and toasted pecans.

In fact, it’s almost like a dessert! But still full of nutrients.

9. Onion rings

Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This classic appetizer goes perfectly with chili. It’s like a perfect bar meal without having to go to the pub.

10. Soft pretzels

Another one of my favorite dishes at the bar. This sweet and salty side dish is a great alternative to cornbread or cookies. Very simple

Another way to turn a classic bowl of chili into a memorable dish.

11. Fresh lettuce

Fresh salad goes with everything. Fresh leafy vegetables topped with carrots, tomatoes, crunchy radishes, cucumbers and croutons.

It’s a great way to balance out the spicy chili and add some veggies to your meal.

12. French fries

Sweet potato fries allow me to eat one of my favorite meals, but without the extra calories. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Plus, they are very easy to prepare while your chili is cooking.

Start by preheating the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Line the second row of baking sheets with foil. Peel 4 medium sweet potatoes and cut them into fries (about 2 cm wide).

Brush the fries with olive oil. Season with sea salt and pepper. Bake for 15 to 25 minutes. Or until the edges are light brown.

13. Chips and guacamole

A delicious side dish, especially for busy days! Just open a bag of your favorite tortillas and you’re all set. Serve with creamy guacamole, salsa or melted cheese.

14. Grilled cheese

I love a good sandwich with my chili and grilled cheese. Crispy, chewy morsels dipped in a cup of chili. Yummy!

This combination makes me want to relive my childhood a hundred times over.

15. Koleslow

Add a refreshing side dish to your meal with a creamy cabbage salad. The fresh, crunchy texture goes perfectly with a hearty bowl.

Chile.

Moreover, coleslaw is very easy to prepare. You can even use a bag of pre-cut vegetables. Yes. I’m guilty.

But when you’re busy, anything that helps me make fast food is a win.

16. Figure

Chili can also be used as a topping for rice. You can use white, brown or any other color. Spanish rice is a delicious variation with peppers, tomatoes and onions. A great way to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your chili.

17. Beverages

If you’re in the mood for alcohol, chili goes well with wine. Red wine, sangria and margaritas are all good options. The key is to pair it with a fruity wine that complements the chili well. And of course, you can’t go wrong with a glass of cold beer. Bottoms up!

I agree with the southwesterners – chili and cornbread are inseparable. What I like about cornbread is that it doesn’t have to rise for long. But I also have to say that chili goes really well with any bread, whether it’s corn bread or white bread.
